William Kuehnle currently serves as a preschool teacher with District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) at Randle Highlands Elementary School working in a three-year-old classroom. He facilitates DCPS’s early childhood curriculum guidelines and various initiatives, continually looking for areas to weave in early learning best practices. Prior to joining the Randle Highlands team in the 2019-2020 school year, Mr. Kuehnle worked at the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center (SEEC) for seven years as a prekindergarten teacher. At SEEC, he implemented SEEC’s community and museum-based approach, taking any opportunity to engage students with nature and the outdoors. In all his roles, Mr. Kuehnle works to meet the developmental needs of his students with object-based learning and play-based instruction. He believes in instilling inquiry and executive function skills for young learners, laying the foundation for cognitive, emotional and academic success in school.
