Lucy Recio

For more than a decade, Lucy Recio has worked to inform birth to career education policy and legislation. A passionate community organizer who recognizes the power of collaborative relationships and partnerships, she has worked with children, families, educators, community leaders, and elected officials, at all levels of government, to create processes for meaningful constituent engagement and advocate mobilization.

Lucy is currently building on this expertise as part of the policy and professional advancement team at NAEYC. There, she creates advocacy and policy engagement opportunities, at the national, state, and local level, for NAEYC’s more than 60,000 members and 51 Affiliates, through America for Early Ed, NAEYC’s advocacy mobilization hub, and the organization’s electoral advocacy campaign, “Our Votes. Their Futures.”

Lucy holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and obtained a Master in Public Administration degree as a National Urban Fellow through CUNY Baruch College. A native of the Dominican Republic, but a New Yorker at heart, Lucy enjoys discovering new countries and cultures, losing herself in a good book, upcycling and crafting, and journaling about all of these experiences as a means of authoring her own life’s story.
